The Duran interviews, author and geopolitical analyst, Jacques Baud. Baud served as a military analyst in Switzerland where his job was to study the Soviet and Russian military. Specifically, during the Cold War, Baud was trying to understand how the Soviets would think about war, how they would act, how they would wage war.
Baud points out that during the Soviet’s war in Afghanistan, there were a lot of exchanges within the military about how to understand the enemy, the Mujahideen, and how they worked. Baud contrasted this with how little the U.S. military even tried to understand how the Taliban operated during the U.S. occupation of Afghanistan.
