I just talked with the Republican Congressman who represents my district, Morgan Griffith of southwest Virginia. He’s conservative 80% of the time . . . . if you believe the rankings that conservative scorecard keepers publish.
I specifically asked Representative Griffith to support Rep. Thomas Massie’s PRIME Act, defunding 87,000 IRS agents, and to stop funding Ukraine and push Ukraine to have serious peace talks with Russia.
The conversation was disappointing.
1. He had no idea what the PRIME Act was. Massie introduced it in 2020. The PRIME Act would allow farmers to take their livestock to a local butcher and distribute and sell the meat intrastate. And not rely upon a government inspected facility. I contacted Rep. Griffith’s office in 2020 when Massie introduced the legislation and told him to support it. Apparently calling and writing your congressman is useless.
2. He hemmed and hawed about defunding the IRS agents. He explained, the budget is so big that we can only pick a few things to fight about. He seemed to indicate that it was unlikely that the agents would be defunded.
My take away: It’s grassroots people like you and me who have to put pressure on the House Republicans to defund this legislation next year.
3. Representative Griffith agreed that Ukraine needs to have peace talks with Russia . . . only after we give Putin a bloody nose.
I told him that the Deep State greatly underestimated the size, scope, depth, and importance of the Russian economy to the world. And that the backlash of the sanctions would be severe on the West.
I don’t think he grasped this.
So with Republicans like this in Congress, things don’t look too hopeful for the next term.
Update
Lew Rockwell writes,
Dear David, what a Boob and fraud, and typical of the GOP.
He’s why they’re useless.
